Realistic Self-Care Tips (that don't involve spending 20k)

Here is how we can self-love and practice self-care.

  1. Saying No Without Explaining

You don't need a PowerPoint presentation to justify why you are not going out, taking that call or simply refusing not to do that task or request.

saying no

Saying no doesn’t make you mean—it makes you mindful. Prioritize what truly matters and let go of people-pleasing. Learning to say no is a form of self-love.

  1. Rest-Guilt-Free

Yes rest without apology. You are allowed to take naps, sleep in and sleep early and binge watch that show you always wanted to. Stop glorifying burnouts, you are not a machine. One of the best things you can do for your mental health is to rest without guilt.

  1. Create A "You Routine (a Simple Joy List)

    a joy list

Even 15minutes count

  • Journaling

  • Listening to music

  • Taking a quite walk

  • Watching movies

You can make a list of 5things that makes you happy like watching tv, calling a friend. When life gets heavy, go that list and do one. Don't forget to get some fresh air too.

  1. Eat Like You Love Yourself

Am not talking about some strict diet. Just listen to your body and taste buds. Drink water, eat that which makes you feel alive. That chocolate? Enjoy it mindfully with no guilt but please don't make eating sweet things an habit.

  • Have a lazy day. It's different from resting, you just lie comfortable in your couch or bed doing that one or two things that makes you happy with food and snacks by your side

  1. Talk Nicely to Yourself.

Some of us would never speak to a friend the way we speak to ourselves sometimes. So stop the self-shaming and self-belittling and start practicing grace. You’re doing the best you can—and that’s enough.
