POLITICAL SAGA: YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT SENATOR AKPABIO'S TWO HUNDRED BILLION NAIRA LAWSUIT JUST UNLOCKED FOR SENATOR NATASHA!

SENATOR NATASHA AND SENATE PRESIDENT AKPABIO

The political scene is on fire! Senate President Godswill Akpabio didn’t just sue Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for defamation; he filed a TWO HUNDRED BILLION NAIRA lawsuit. But here’s the kicker, that massive lawsuit is actually the best news Senator Natasha could have hoped for. She was earlier suspended in the Senate and now the matter has been moved straight into the High Court.

Let’s look at the power dynamics here. When Senator Natasha first went public with her claims of unwanted sexual advances, linked to her efforts on the crucial Ajaokuta Steel motion, the Senate’s Ethics Committee moved fast and stopped her internal petition on technical grounds. They said her petition was “dead on arrival” because she signed it herself, which they said goes against Senate rules.

They also argued that a related matter was already in court because Senator Akpabio’s wife had filed a separate three hundred-and-fifty-billion-naira suit.

This became a perfect shield. Senator Natasha was blocked from an internal investigation, and Senate rules also made it difficult for her to initiate a fresh process at that moment.

The 200 Billion Naira Golden Ticket!

That shield effectively broke on Friday, December 5, 2025, when Senator Akpabio filed his own two-hundred-billion-naira defamation suit. He wants a declaration, an apology, and a public retraction, but this move has a major legal implication.

While Senator Akpabio’s goal is to get the court to declare her claims false, affirm his reputation and compel her to pay damages, apologize and delete published statements, Senator Natasha’s advantage is that by making her a defendant, he has opened a judicial platform where she can now attempt to prove the allegations she earlier made. She has repeatedly said she was blocked from giving her full account internally, and now the court process requires her defense.

What Are the Receipts She’s Bringing?

Senator Natasha has not publicly released all her evidence, but her legal defense will center on proving the accuracy of the claims she has made. In this trial, the court can summon witnesses, phone records, and other communications that could either contest or support her accusations.

The Stakes

In Senator Akpabio's two hundred billion naira lawsuit, filed at the FCT High Court, Senator Akpabio is seeking massive relief, including two-hundred-billion-naira in general damages, five hundred million naira for litigation costs, a declaration that her sexual-harassment statements are false, an order compelling her to publish a public apology and retraction, a judicial order to remove all published reports, and a perpetual injunction preventing her from repeating the statements.

The case, set to begin on January 21, 2026, is no longer just about parliamentary procedure; it is now about whether very powerful political figures can use legal action to silence serious allegations, or whether this becomes an opportunity for those allegations to be tested in open court.

The question remains; Will Senator Akpabio’s suit silence his accuser, or has he unintentionally created the exact legal opportunity that will require both sides to present everything in court?
